Siam Painting Services is the trading name of a company based in the North of Thailand. Our aim is to provide the highest quality wargame units at a price within reach of every wargamer and collector. And as wargamers ourselves we know just how exacting these standards can be.

For many years the founders of the company have presented large scale wargaming displays throughout the United Kingdom, and these games have been remarkable because of the high standards that have been set in the quality of terrain used, and the size of the armies engaged. Each figure being painted and based to premium standard by professional painters.

However, in recent years, the cost and time involved in obtaining such models, in the quantities I required, has become  prohibitive with individual models costing as much as $30 each for the painting alone. I began to look at alternative sources of figures.

 There are a number of painting services available, some offering what seem like an excellent service, but when you look closely there are often extra costs that soon mount up. Postage and Packing fees, basing, texturing, shading, standards, all adding that little bit more on the basic price and making that model less of a bargain. I also found through bitter experience that painting quality standards could be a highly variable from order to order.

My aim was to obtain excellent quality, all the time, at a reasonable price, and in pretty high numbers. Unfortunately I could not find any company able to meet all these demands, and so I looked at doing it myself. I have wargaming contacts Worldwide, and after looking at various options I founded Siam Painting Services. 

I chose Thailand as the base of operations, as there is a cultural history that has produced artwork of great beauty and detail. It has taken time and effort but we have been able to recruit a number of highly skilled artists, many graduates of fine arts college, and having trained them in the use of modern paint mediums, and techniques they are now producing units that meet our set standards. But I have not rested on my laurels, and my staff are keen to develop their skills, and I am investing heavily in training in order to further improve our product line.

One additional rule that I set myself was that I would not seek to exploit our painters. The premises, are fully furnished to meet the painters requirements, and their salaries, reflecting their skills, are higher than average for the area. We will not, in any circumstances, use child labour, and we will not exploit our painters simply to increase profit. Graham Campbell is the Chairman of the Gentlemen Volunteers wargames group who have presented award winning wargame displays throughout the UK for a number of years. Graham spends half the year in the UK, and half in Thailand. A dedicated wargamer since childhood Graham owns a huge collection of models in 15mm and 28mm scales.
